Founder
Clifford Barnes founded Winston Sports. He set out to make Jeans, Casual wear, children’s fashion clothing, and school uniforms and expanded into football clothing.
Still a family-run business with sons and managing partners Steve and Mike continuing the tradition but now offering the design and printing of a complete range of Sportswear, Workwear, and more.
We Have Years of Experience in the Field
As one of the few remaining garment companies still manufacturing in the UK, We offer the complete in-house service for our customers from the initial design concept to the finished garment, including digitally printed fabrics, screen printing, and embroidery if required.
Although the manufacture of football and rugby kits forms a large part of our business, we produce garments for all sporting activities, including cricket, boxing, netball, basketball, gymnastics, swimming, athletics, bowls, lacrosse, and many others cricket, boxing, netball, basketball, gymnastics, swimming, athletics, bowls, lacrosse, and many more. We offer the same service for school uniforms.

1978
Winston Sports was founded by Clifford Barnes.

1989
Mike Barnes started his journey in the company and learned the trade alongside his father. He specialises in the design and print aspects of the company.

1996
Steve Barnes joined to move the company forward and expand sales.

1998
The Great British Tie Company was created. Winston Sports purchased an old established manufacturer of ties and scarfs and traded as GRC neckwear.

2008
They Purchased their first water-based ink wide format printer, allowing the company to move away from solvent-based screen printing on silkscreens. This sped up the process of printing bespoke sublimation garments.

2020
Covid 19 hit the world. Winston Sports had no choice but to close for a few months during the first pandemic. Once restrictions were lifted, the company could get back to business as usual, with the opportunity to produce other garments, towels, and facemasks—all personalised to the customers’ requirements.

2022
Now the company has two water-based ink sublimation printers, a solvent-based print, and cut machine, a six-headed embroidery machine, and a fantastic team behind the scenes.

We offer the choice of garments and equipment from all major brands offering fantastic value. All garments can then be customised in-house by our printing and embroidery departments.
