  • 1978

Winston Sports was founded by Clifford Barnes.

  • 1989

Mike Barnes started his journey in the company and learned the trade alongside his father. He specialises in the design and print aspects of the company.

  • 1996

Steve Barnes joined to move the company forward and expand sales.

  • 1998

The Great British Tie Company was created. Winston Sports purchased an old established manufacturer of ties and scarfs and traded as GRC neckwear.

  • 2008

They Purchased their first water-based ink wide format printer, allowing the company to move away from solvent-based screen printing on silkscreens. This sped up the process of printing bespoke sublimation garments.

  • 2020

Covid 19 hit the world. Winston Sports had no choice but to close for a few months during the first pandemic. Once restrictions were lifted, the company could get back to business as usual, with the opportunity to produce other garments, towels, and facemasks—all personalised to the customers’ requirements.

  • 2022

Now the company has two water-based ink sublimation printers, a solvent-based print, and cut machine, a six-headed embroidery machine, and a fantastic team behind the scenes.

Quality runs through the workshop,
from every
process to
